Dion Dublin and Lee Hendrie haven't and aren't going to win us anything. What is the point in them? I would love to play for Villa, and I would be more than proud to wear the shirt - should I be in the team? What about you?
Come on guys, lets have a little ambition and forget the nostalgia. What we want are professionals with ability who are going to work hard for the team. John Carew probably doesn't care about Villa yet, but he will do, especially if we start buying other top players and start winning things.

Yeah, it would have been great to go fourth, and sured up our challenge for Europe - it is going to be close at the end whatever happens and 2 points could make the difference.
I am worried though; why have we had no activity in the transfer market yet? The window closes on Thursday and all month there has been nothing. Our core players are excellent and, bar Petrov, anyone we sign to improve on our first 11 would have to be superb. However, injuries would derail our season and I am sorry but MON needs to look at that and worry.
Just because we have been relatively lucky with injuries so far, doesn't mean we can take the p1ss.
Get some bloody players in at Villa and let us not let this season finish with nothing.

Firstly, if we finish 6th or 7th, we are in the toto - a couple of games against spazzy opposition away from Europe.
Secondly, could you bear those noses afterwards if they won? All of them have an inferiority complex when it comes to the Villa, and scrabble around in the dust, looking for any microscopic glint of 'evidence' that they are the better team - it's embarrassing. Imagine if they won at VP - they'd be banging on about it for years like they they still are about the one a few years ago.

Villa fans all know, and are endlessly dissappointed with our lack of recent trophies. Our past is definately something to be proud of, and certainly not boring to us (any fan would be proud of thier clubs' past achievements) but we realise we can't live off these forever. We want to win more, but we are still a better team than you at the moment.
I cannot understand how you claim that Blues have achieved more than Villa in the last 15 years! We have won two league cups (whilst just missing out on the top division title in '93 at the very end to Man U). We have also reached a couple of finals and played in Europe. Blues on the other hand have only spent four of these years in the top league. How can you claim to have even a remotely close recent history to us?
And finally, I do envy your experiences with Withe et al, they sound awesome. But this is my point, and I have made it before and never had a reasonable answer - there is so much bitterness from Blues towards Villa - and I don't mean banter, I mean genuine animosity towards the club and it's fans - but I don't get it. I still want an explanation as to why this is the case when you are Brummies too? It was 25 years ago but all of Brum must surely have been proud when the European cup lived in our City for a year? As brummies noses should at least have an appreciation of the fact that our City does have a footballing history, shouldn't they? Or would you rather we had absolutely nothing to be proud of? Manchester, London, Liverpool the other biggest cities in the country can be proud of their achievements and Brum has at least brought something to the table too. Thanks to Villa.

First, this post wasn't aimed solely at you! My pre-empting the abuse I was sure to get was in thought of the other posters on here (although it has gone quiet).
Second - don't take the p1ss mate, there have been loads of times when people have had a go at villa for no reason (remember lulu, sarfraz, bluenosespip, and numerous others who filled the boards with pointless drivel about villa being a second rate club and not as good as blues etc etc). I remember even good old objective nigel failing to admit we were the better club in one debate....
Anyway, in answer to your question, the only thing that prompted me to write my post was, well, what I wrote in my post actually being true. Your club is a shambles at the moment, and I am not talking about whether or not McLeish can sort it out, or needing time or whatever - you have serious issues at board level. I am not having a go for the hell of it it is my opinion and I am voicing it - sorry if that disappoints you! I'm not being patronising - I am saying what I see, a la Roy Walker.
And I shouldn't be the one moaning about it - I personally don't care if they turn St. Andrews into cinema / car park - you should be moaning. That is my point.
