    As an individual I am free to express my opinion , given the overwhelming weight of anecdotal evidence from the history of the downfall of the soviet system and its aftermath. Abramovich came to 'own' a huge asset base in a very short period of time from a standing start. It is inconceivable that this was accumalated in a normal way. He was not the only oligarch to enrich himself in this way, but he is the most public in the way he expatriates his wealth. Presumably there is/will be a price to pay.
    Whilst the press have inferred dubious sources of his wealth I am sure they are careful in picking targets especially ones so rich that legal suites can be persued with impunity.
    Chelski supporters may regard themselves as 'lucky' to have such a benefactor , but surely you realise that real success is one which is recognised and applauded by neutrals and even competitors. The 'freakish' nature of Chelski's success will not find this recognition.

Wouldn't it be fun if Utd chased every good midfielder in Europe so Chelski would have to buy them all to stop us getting one, might even break Roman's bank and cause untold of player discontent. This thought is because just heared Chelski now buying Adu as well as Mikel, Duff, Essien etc etc ( anyone connected to Utd)

    The pointabout these rankings is that they are not too biased by very recent events. The best clubs provide top teams consistently over many years. Chelski is a very recent phenomenum, which could implode and disappear as quickly as it came ( aka Lazio). I think I,ve just answered my own question about Inter!
    As they say, form is temporary, class is permanent.

    Seeing as all this is out in the open, why don't the club make a statement for the fans?
    I admit to getting 'hot under the collar' about all this ( its 35C in the shade here today) , but Gill did promise new signings before the WC; Fergie said he knew who he wanted but they were still in the Champs League; everyone is now at their respective WC squads ( or on holiday); Does anybody have a feeling this is descending into 'headless chicken' stuff again , and we will end up with a Djemba2 again? We have needed central midfielders for 3 years at least, surely they have a hit list, can't be that difficult?

    yes I totally agree. Alf told the FA to p off when they questioned his picking of Styles. He knew exactly how english teams can play best and picked players to fill those roles and in a way that meant they were playing as they did for their clubs. so for instance in midfield he wanted the balance and picked the players who were best for those roles, NOT the best 4 midfielders. I think this is where Sven has got it very wrong.
