I'd agree with that - it sounds picky, but we've still got a minus GD, and had a great chance to rectify that. But generally all good, and don't forget the 0-0 in Europe; it might not have been first team but it'll be great for confidence of the 'in between' players (Bassong, Walker, etc), and helps create the winning mentality.

What's arguably more important than the scoreline is Liverpool's shocking performance; I thought they were a given for 4th, but on that showing we've got more than a fighting chance.

Anyone seen word from "King" Kenny after the game? Just to add salt to the Scouse wound, they'll be fined for having more than 5 bookings...

The worst thing about it (aside from twice having the ball in the net in the second half but never getting a goal... and the ref...) was that the team out there SHOULD have won; it was a weakened side, but by no means a weak one. And I know we'll all disagree on this for hours, but I really fundamentally disagree with strategic losing; it's not the right way to play the game.

Wonder what odds I'd get on a 5-0 at Shamrock Rovers and 2-1 to PAOK (particularly given they've already qualified) for the final group games?? Worth a go...

Do you remember last May when we went to the Man City away game and their fans were chanting "Channel 5" at us? How badly do you wanna go and shout it back at them now?!

Uh-oh... "53'Defoe goes down clutching his hamstring but, after a moment's alarm, he gets back up to his feet and there is no reason to be concerned."

He might be alright, but a hamstring clutch is reason to be concerned in itself given the others...

(nb, a hamstring clutch is not a weird handbag)

My nutshell summary of this game: well matched, but trying not to lose more than to win, and that's never worked for Spurs. But a lot to take heart from.

Biggest worry is that we've got some tricky matches ahead, whereas City's are the sort of games that should be bread and butter. Utd's are trickier, but if the players see this gap developing at this stage in the season will it have an impact on performance? I don't mean for us winning the league, I mean players who've got caught up in the hype becoming disillusioned and form suffering as a consequence - a bit like after we won carling cup and knew we weren't getting Europe or relegated; fatigue set in and we ended up mid table.

I'm overwhelmed, with this deadline day being so bleedin crazy and the paralympics & all I can't cope!

Can someone summarise for me? Interesting stories for other teams too if you like; the definites, the probables, and the gawd only knows? Ah go on, you know you love to!

& SB & John, for the sake of both your sanities, I suggest the "silently agree to disagree" approach, I reckon it's a pretty safe assumption that what one of you says they other will debate! Not trying to interfere, just be constructive.
