I was teasing cos you'd written 8, which would be mathematically impossible - either 9 for 3 wins or 7 for 2 wins & a draw, 8 would need "one for luck" somewhere along the line...

Evening Sopster, how's it going as the bigwig of the Chinese Hammers fans?
I think all the replies above all have the same sort of message "neh, he's alright I suppose". My opinion is buckle in & see where he goes; he's ringing in big changes which my gut isn't too keen on, but as time goes on he seems to be getting used to the players and vice versa, so cautious (low level of) optimism.
Ask us again at the end of the window, there may well be some differences then.
This thread leads me nicely onto this: http://twitter.com/WhiteHart_Lad/status/289802464671195136/photo/1/large - AVB's got a better record than old Billy Nick!
(Tongue's firmly in cheek with that point) -

Interesting... Sunderland used to be known (by me, I'm not pretending it got any further than that) as Northern Spurs due to the number of our old players they had. Do you think this transfer window makes Newcastle the NE Arsenal??

Bum bum bum bum bum. Hopefully Defoe's injury won't give him a long layoff, but what formation do we go for without him? In particular for the next few games while we wait for Ade to return.
I'd be inclined to push Dempsey forward but with Holtby or perhaps even Bale close behind (with the other one on the wing) for Newcastle, and for Lyon I reckon I'd give Obika a run.
Thoughts?
Please don't turn this into another "I know better than Levy & AVB, if they'd got a striker like I told them to we'd be ok" thread, we all know our squad weaknesses and it's typical this happens in the first game after the window closes, but sulking about it isn't going to help. -

I'm feeling Spurs getting Bayern Munich in the quarter finals, & I reckon each leg could end up being bigger games than the final.
I actually think an all English final would be rubbish - you'd completely lose the feel of the occasion if you're playing teams you play all the time anyway. A Rangers-English team final would seem a bit odd, but you'd still have that excitement of something a bit different.
I think it could end up like the Champions League last season, and 3 English teams in the semis. I don't think Bolton can be ruled out, they've had a cracking UEFA run and are on the up & up since Megson's had a chance to make his mark, but I don't think they've got that extra push to win it. Both Spurs and Everton have got too much about them to be discounted, and I think both teams will feel cheated if they're knocked out before the final. I don't know enough about Rangers style of play to be able to comment on them.
As a Spurs fan, I was livid to be knocked out in the fashion we were last season, we outplayed Sevilla in both legs, but luck & refereeing were against us (honestly, I'm not being biased, does anyone remember the penalty given against Robbo because a player fell over him after he made a beautiful save?), so in my mind we're at that final already. Go on the lilywhites! -

I'll be honest, I fancy our chances against Chelsea more than I would against Arsenal, at least at this stage. I know we are capable of embarassing them at the bridge - whether or not we do is a different matter, but I'm irritated rather than concerned by the draw.
The Plymouth-Watford game should be a good one to see. -

Did you see the defence last night though? They might have been shocking for most of the season, but last night there were really precise, really tight lines for both the back 4 and for all the set peices. I don't normally notice stuff like that but it was clear last night.
There's a good indication! -

Actually, that's what annoys me: we've outplayed Man U twice this year (I couldn't watch the FA cup game but got the impression we couldn't claim we outplayed them there), and come away with a point; Arsenal 3 times and won once... so many times this season it's been a case of 'Spurs dropped two points there' or 'the scoreline doesn't reflect the game, Spurs should've finished 1-0 up instead of 1-0 down', when will we start converting??
If anyone was there, how was the new look defence? All commentating said they were good, but there was definite confusion and shakiness in the highlights I've seen, although I guess that's to be expected when there are 2 new players and one out of position. Hopefully it'll settle asap. -

I don't want to spoil any surprises for you, but I've heard a rumour I'm being signed any day now. They went after my cat first, but he's happy where he is whereas I'm allegedly looking for a new challenge.
