Look Sfer, sometimes you need to do a deal with the devil, that's all I'm saying... ;)
Looks like I've got my wish for a bit of controversy, Dawson wouldn't be denying the FA charges without the club backing, I wouldn't be surprised if it's followed by him being punished and one of Levy's "I wouldn't normally waste my time with this sort of comment but I'm so outraged I'm going to, only to go act against in days later" statements... when did WHL turn into a circus?? -

Oooh I hope it's gets better in the second half! Mind you, getting through on that performance might give them the boost they need...
I can't see any highlights in the TV pages, but then Portsmouth don't finish until 11.30/12ish & they usually try to ehack all the teams in these things. -

p.harnsworth - do you see now why I got all defensive before?? This is the type of babble we normally get on this board! I'm sorry for mixing you up with this lot.
I reckon all of these names are just one person with way too much time on their hands. Breaders, can I have some crumpets? I had some but they got mouldy before I could eat them :( -

Mike, in the last minute I was absloutely convinced we'd get the win - I was screaming at the telly and telling Gomes to hoof the ball downfield!
Happy days... The office gooner's not turned up and I feel horrifically hungover. Brilliant.
Liverpool predictions? We'll take them to the cleaners! Actually, that should be a good indication of how the CC game'll go. -
He;ll do it for us - he can't forget the 5-1 feeling that easily!

We're not "in turmoil" at the moment, we've moved on to being "troubled Tottenham" - that's definitely a step up!
We've not lost our manager then our chairman in a week, that way round always spells trouble, the new manager doesn't know if he'll have a job once a new chairman's in place... although that means he'll be looking to impress, and a PL scalp's a good way to do that.
I do think we'll have them, but I've got pre-match nerves now... -

As clever as you are for removing the context of what I said there, it doesn't alter the body of my post. As you will have seen from reading it all the way to the end (well done you!), I was explaining why there had not been more discussion on this matter, which is because in my view - and I believe the views of others here - it is done with, and I didn't care to discuss it anymore.
I was not entering a debate on the issues raised, I was pointing out I'd not raised it myself because the matter was a non-entity to me; I was bored of it. Thus answering the questions asked by the original poster.
But you know all of this because you read what I wrote.

"retreated into their shell"?
I don't think we have, I think we're all here explaining our case and discussing current team problems. If you've got anything interesting to say then we welcome it, but from what I've read I'm not convinced you have the capacity, so please run along.
(It's times like this I almost miss Fabongrass...) -

Morning Longtime.
That's probably part of it, but I think it's much more down to us than them. The team we put out can be the same in a league game and a cup game, but the team in the up wants it so much more, they play with a proper urgency. It's like the old 'new manager' effect (look what a difference that made to us this season), they know it's probably their only chance to do it so they go out and give it their all. That combined with a couple of pretty good runs over the last few seasons has probably developed a bit of a "we're a cup team" mentality in the squad - it's a self-perpetuating feeling of not being quite good enough in the league.
Also, they know it's nice to win, and it's easier to win a cup than the league.
That's what I reckon anyway, and is why I thought Redknapp would be good for the team - I hoped he could lift the mood in the dressing room and make winning a habit - but at the moment that team spirit's missing a bit. Hopefully the cup match congestion we're about to hit will bring us some regular winning form in cup matches that can be transferred to the league.
