If (and at this stage it's a big if) Bent's sold in summer, I'd rather keep the 3 good strikers we have and introduce Pekhart to the mix. I've not seen him, but everything I've heard about him indicates he's ready to take the step up (Poyet even said that last summer), and I'd rather keep the three of them happy and give Pekhart time to break through properly and learn from them - give him a season or two of being a first team 'apprentice' if you like, and by that point it's inevitable that one of the others will have left so there'll be space for him to take the step up.

I know how it sounds, but he's played at Millwall, Portsmouth and Spurs; he's a bit like Defoe in that he tries to stay in/around London. If I remember rightly there were some other L1/Champ teams sniffing around while he was at Millwall, but he stuck it out cos it's his old stamping ground, I dont reckon he'd go as far as Birmingham, let alone Newcastle.
