Defo Red for the hands round Coles throat. OK, he never did it violently but you just don't do it, so a red for me.
Colloccini's eyes never left the ball, so nothing deliberatly malicous in the 'attempt to get the ball'. A Yellow and a penalty would have been the right thing to do.................but injuries happen and it matters if it was deliberatly reckless or not. -

from the BBC official website -
"Chelsea's defeat at Newcastle had more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie novel, with Howard Webb playing the role of the villain. How he did not give a penalty for dangerous play for Fabricio Coloccini's reckless challenge on Demba Ba, I'll never know. And while Ashley Cole isn't every neutral's cup of tea, Papiss Cisse should have been sent off for violent conduct for trying to throttle him." -

I was watching Final Score on BBC HD on Saturday afternoon. Garth Crooks and Didi Hamman were commenting on all the games as they happened. Garth could not believe that there was no penalty given for the high kick on Demba Ba. He could not believe that nothing was done about the hands around Ashley Cole's throat. Didi agreed with him.
I must admit that I thought Garth was biased against Chelsea. But the offences were so bad that even he was amazed that no action was taken by Howard Webb the official in charge. -
If a Chelsea player had done this to any opposing player, would he have been sent off?

I hope CFC keep a copy of the video for use as a defence when a Chelsea player is punished for something similar. Like Chelsea lawyers did with the ballboy incident. FA had to backtrack on increasing the ban on Hazard because of previous incidents of a similar nature.

He has now been in charge for 12 premier league games and under Benitez we have 22points... at the start of this season under RDM we had 24 points from 12 games. Since Benitez arrived we have been knocked out of the Club World Cup, the Champions League, League Cup and very nearly the FA Cup. Who thinks he is doing okay? What has he turned round?

The team might have been better with Piazon fit than Torres out of sorts.
I am loving the way Ba gets stuck in.

Torres was dreadful against Swansea for 80 minutes and then Ba came on and was excellent and nearly won the game for us single-handed. Apparently Benitez claims Torres had a virus and so shouldn't be blamed. Which only begs the question why Benitez had him on the pitch.

I wasnt happy when I heard he was coming to chelsea, but he seems to be doing well, we have a good squad and were winning games, so not much to complain about as yet, the only thing is, the second he makes a mistake he'll get fired

u may that but look at how he is turning around the team. he might get this job on a permanent basis if the team continues to play the way they are doing. he's an experienced manager and that's what counts.

As a long standing Chelsea fan I was not happy to see Rafa given the job. But credit where credit is due, he seems to be the first manager we have had who has recognised that Mikel is a very limited player, and also that David Luiz would make an excellent holding midfield player (something I have been advocating for at least a year).

So this comment about Nasri is on the wrong board, David. Try posting on either of the Manchester boards.
And, by the way, while discussing cowardice, would you say what you said here to Nasri's face? Up close and personal? -

The only reason vanPersie scored is because Nasri is a coward. Not only did he duck away from the ball but he tipped it into the net.

Well done, Fritz for supporting Chelsea since you were four years old.
I have only been a Chelsea fan since 1966, and while we are talking age, I am 74. I was a late starter.
In support of the Benitez boo boys, they are allowed to express their view at matches in my book. Not least because they have probably paid between £50 and £60 pounds for their ticket, and are supporting the club with deeds. While we here on the internet only support with our thoughts.
Di Matteo was special both as a player and as a manager. It is right for the fans to honour his name.
I personally don't like what I have seen of Benitez on tv over the years. It is not because he managed Liverpool, it is not because of anything he said then or since. He just is not Blue.
Not yet anyway.
But I have found in life that some of my best friends are people I did not like at first. So, we'll see.
As for what the red half of the Premier league think. Who cares?
This is about passion. That is what football is about. And those expressing their dislike of Benitez are passionate and not disloyal. They are at the games after all.
