Uo to 4 Re's so this'll be the last word! (This will be like a game - who posts last).

To be perfectly honest, I don't care about not celebrating or kissing badges or taking your shirt off to show a message saying blah... I'd just like to see a player stay and play well.

I'm a bit jaded by all the '...it was my childhood club .... It's like a dream come true to play for...' and then buggering off as soon as a better pay packet comes along.

BAE I like - others don't - but he does ok for me. OK, he may not like football, but he's served us well. If Ade can (or wants to) turn this spell around, then I'll be happy - even if he never celebrates a goal again.

Sunday eh though? If Daffy's fit, who would you then play? I think I would give Ade the first 45-60 and then switch if it didn't work.

Well I hope it is a "spell", but if he can't get excited with late winners I don't expect him to battle back to form any time soon. I anticipate he will be moving on at season's end and the question will be "did he leave or was he pushed".

I'll give you that he appears to have a track record of it, but I like his 'style' when playing well. He holds the ball up well (he didn't against WH admittedly), brings others into play and scores.
I prefer that style to the out and out striker like Daffy personally.

So I suppose I'm hoping that his track record isn't how he'll be with us and that this lean spell is just that, a spell.

John, if he wants to get bored he can do it in his own time. We pay him too much money not to expect commitment and enthusiasm on the pitch. If you did record the 2 games, watch back and tell me when you last saw such a negative reaction after seeing your team get such important results.

Yes he re-signed at the start of the season, but he didn't exactly rush in to it, did he. I'm sure other factors played a part, but from where I sit it was mostly to do with him collecting as much from citeh and then us.

You're right to say he scored quite well last year, but he missed shed loads of easy chances that should have been put away. And he has continued to miss easy chances this year and seems to lack concentration, like whenever he gets the ball a little unexpectantly he is never quite ready or able to know what to do with it, whereas top players do.

Didn't fancy him to begin with and even less now. He seems to be repeating how it went at #$%$ & City

What do you think it is, a commitment or boredom problem?
He played well for us last season - if it was a 'commitment;' thing, why not simply stop playing as soon as you sign? Why in his case, play well, then re-sign and then stop playing?

I'm still willing to give him the benefit. He missed pre-season, the got injured and was then suspended. Since then, we've struggled with scoring (you could put that down to him, but it seems a general malaise), apart from Bale.

Personally, I still think that the difference is that last season we had Bale/VdV acting as provider and setting up as many as they scored. This season, Bale is scoring and not providing, and the VdV/Modric replacements haven't quite hit consistent form. That then reflects on the strikers.

I have already commented on Adebayor's late return from the Africa Cup.

If you recorded the game, take a look at his reaction on Bale scoring his wonder goal against the hammers. He just turned away as if the ref had awarded a goal kick. You would think that Bale scoring a late winner and earning 3 vital points would have him #$%$-a-hoop, but no.

Now take a look at the late goal that kept us in europe, same reaction. You could excuse it if it was just his laid back character, but I remember him running the length of the pitch to taunt arsenal fans when he scored for city.

I have heard people accuse Benni of not caring, but he is always one of the first to congratulate and celebrate our goals, whereas Adebayour couldn't care less.

The sooner we get rid the better, arogant merceniery git.

Sfer - chill out man! I'm not here to argue, I take your points on board but think you're being harsh on us. Whatever you say about Arsenal without RVP, they still have a chance of qualifying for the CL again, and could even finish 3rd - if we falter and Chelsea (both are likely). What I meant as well is that we have Bale - for now - and he's been our best player so naturally our other players will look to him first for inspiration. Currently that's working.

Re Holtby getting a "real kicking", not saying he was kicked but I thought he encountered a more physical team than what he's probably used to and wasn't getting any joy in the second half. The ref wasn't offering protection and he ended up on his a*se a lot. So AVB substituted him for someone who is more used to the physical demands of the PL and what happened? He nearly scored with his shot that spilled onto the post when Ade then missed his chance, and afterwards did manage to score our equaliser - however scrappy it was he was there to put it away.

Re Dembele/Carroll - turn that question on its head, how many goals scored and assists created for Dembele? Not many considering he's had more game time but that's because he sits deep. He'd also been booked and had one or two moments where he could have got a second yellow, so taking him off for Carroll (rather than a defensive player) was the right move.

As for your argument on defence/goalie not winning games, not sure many Arsenal fans would agree with you given that they have not had a solid back 5 (including goalie) for years whereas the likes of Chelsea have had Cech, Terry, Carvalho, Cole and Man U have had Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra - and have won trophies. You can't say that Arsenal have been light in attacking options over the last 7 years while they still had Henry, RVP, Fabregas, Walcott etc.? Many feel it is that lack of a quality back line (+ goalie) which has cost them games, competitions, success.

Maybe some teams do deserve better, and if West Ham had the quality they we do (or Bale if that's the case) then they may have got that. Ditto for a whole host of other teams over the years. I support AVB at the moment, but I'm not sure on Levy - why no players in January again etc. etc. r

I think your strike force will definately be told to test the resolve of the shaky Arsenal defence. Adebayor can be fantastic, when he can be bothered, which, as i'm sure you lot are beginning to realise, isn't that often.
The midfield battle is going to be epic. Hopefully a great advert for the Prem, for London and for football in general. I hope the officials manage to not ruin the game.
The atmosphere will be electric and i wish i wish i had a ticket (as i always do derby day). I hope my lot can raise their game and show what they are capable of. I happen to think Arsenal have a great squad today, just low on confidence and only now getting to really know how each other play. A lot of new players have been brought in over the last three windows.
Above all i hope the lads do the club and Wenger proud and begin to silence those who knock our GREAT manager.
AVB looks the part to me BTW. I think he will become a memorable Spurs manager if given time and the backing every manager deserves IMO. Better off at Spurs than Chelski that's for sure. It takes a while to really put your own stamp on a team IMO. I wouldn't judge too harshly the guys first season, wherever he happens to finish, just as i don't really judge players in their first season.

Patience is a rare virtue where football is concerned though.

I predict a Spurs rout at the lane and 7 points clear come the final whistle.

    Scary game eh Fab?
Up until Jol, I never expected anything out of the 'top 4', but that has slowly changed over the past 4 or 5 seasons. A belief is SLOWLY growing. The record is becoming more consistent.

I would have felt less confident had the WH game gone against us, as I think the incentive of going above us would have driven your lot more. And for some reason, I feel less confident than last season anyway, even though AVB has presided over a couple of good results, I'm not sure we have the overall quality/performance levels yet to completely stuff you.

But your lot have had a patchy season 'performance wise' as well, so I think it will come down to one or two players on either side being fired up (not overly fired up and getting sent off though) and dragging the rest along with them screaming.

If we contain your midfield, then I think we have enough in Ade/Bale/Lemmon/Holtby to just nick it.

Another interesting team selection problem for AVB. Does he go to stifle your midfield, or simply try to overrun you? I think he'll err on the cautious side.

It's upon us. Derby day draws ever closer and no doubt you sorry lot are feeling more confident of a win this time around (more so than in many a year?). Whilst it's true that the MIGHTY Arsenal have banged in no less than TEN goals in the last two Prem meetings, Spurs are certainly looking the favourites today. Arsenals confidence is SHATTERED. Spurs is SKY HIGH. Derby day promises to be a real humdinger!

Will Gareth ( i modelled for Beano) Bale do the business for you yet again? Will Lennon give you cause to once again argue he is 'better than Walcott'? Will Wenger punch AVB full in the face? Will Dexter amazingly utter his first word 'GOOOOOONERS' to the astonishment of dad Joe? Will the annual St Totteringhams bash be cancelled this season?? Will Bale be Arsenals big signing of the summer???

All will be revealed Yidsters. NONE can be discounted.

Fab is already chomping on his nails.

7 points clear would be a f*cking nightmare.

    Much love.

    Sfer,
I'm not sure you can argue the depth of squad both ways. You seem to say that AVB hasn't worked magic as he had a squad to start with, then bemoan the use of Carroll/Livermore because the squad is light.

In the summer, between managers, there was a bit of dealing. We did lose a large part of the squad. The obvious big players (Modric,VdV) went and we also lost what I would class as good squad players (Corluka, Krancjar, Pienarr, Saha, Dos Santos, Bassong) - Pav I think had already gone, and Ade went back to Citeh. And Ledley retired. As for the 'ins', we seemed to have already been linked to Glyph and Vertigo - both 'Levy' style purchases. Dempsey/Dembele looked more AVB than Levy to me.

I'm not sure how much input AVB had in all that movement. The appearance (to me) seemed to be a clear out to get squad costs down. But we still ended up with Jenas, Bentley, Gomes left - and T'Hudd/Daws.

It was an odd pre-season and JJ and Bentley seemed to get pitch time, as though they may get a chance, and Daws and T'Hudd were heavily linked with moves away and AVB apparently also saying they were surplus.

So, to me, given the state of the squad after the cull and with Ade's status up in the air at the start of the season, the results under AVB haven't been too bad.

I'm not saying that I'm convinced by him either though, as I agree and to me the performances belie our position, just that overall, given the loss of VdV/Modric, and the lack of Ade for a large part of the first half of the season, and the cull of the squad (which didn't look to be AVB) - then the position is good. AVB, like any manager/player then needs time to show what he can do.

I thought with the changes in staff and manager, 6th would have been good. Now, at least for this week, we're still in with a shout for 4th/3rd.

The next summer window will then allow AVB to get who he wants - and there can be no more excuses for AVB than there were for 'arry or Jol in the transfer market. Either you believe that the manager is solely responsible for the transfer policy at Spurs, or you see the influence of Mr Levy. I saw the influence of Levy's hand last summer - mainly his hand.

Asking the question where would we be without Bale is a valid one in my book. Yes I appreciate we do have him but the emphasis is on relying on one player is dangerous and needs to be addressed otherwise, if we lose him through injury of him being tempted away, where are we then? Mid table as I pointed out and as was expressed in the press only today.

I asked the question, which other PL team relies so heavily on just one player and no one replied. You have pointed out that Arsenal did with RVP and that is probably the closet comparison BUT looked what happened when he was tempted away. They have struggled to replace him or score goals and to play to the sdame standrad. If anything you pointing out the RVP situation only goes to prove my point.

The difference between us and WHU was Bale. Other than that they did as well as us. Take Bale off and that would have been a VERY ordinary mid table clash.

So AVB takes playeys off because they are getting a "real kicking"? Are you serious? So, apart from th efcat that that happens in every PL game and the fact that the Ref would surely have done something igf th etreatment of Holtby was THAT bad, the signal to teams we play is "if you kick us we will take our best players off" is that it?

Carroll is more attack minded that Dembele!! Exactly how many goals has attack minded Carroll scored in the PL?Oh no, hold on, NONE. How many assists? no that is not a statistic that shouts out from anywhere. How many shots? Nope, not there either.

You don't win games because your goallie or center back plays well - you draw them at best. Carroll and Livemore have done nothing so far IMO to say that they are anything better than average PL players. Lennon was completely ineffectual until the last 20 mins and even then he managed just two half decent crosses. Adebyor did nothing at all apart from a header which some would say he should have do ne better with. He missed a sitter that Arry's missus could have scored.

And the table doesn't lie? Oh come on. Stat wise it doesn't but we all know that some teams deserve better that then get and others get too much.

At the end of the day we want the same things. The only thing that differs is how we see success being achieved. I don't think AVB is the man to do it and I don't think the squad is strong enough to do it. As always, we shall see!

Same as is in same standard IMO. AVB has done "magic"? How do you think that? Have you noticed how all the pundits and "experts" have stopped saying that Spurs are one of the best teams to watch for attractive football? They were raving about us last year under Arry for the way we played. Not any more.

You admit yourself, we have got where we are with "luck" and my point is that without that luck, or without Bale we would be mid table. When other teams in the top 4 or 5 are ocassionally steam rollering some team 4 or 5 or even 8 nil and we are struggling to a draw or a 1-0 win that tells me we are not at the same level. When Manure or Citeh host th elikes of Reading or Southampton or Villa the expectation by independents is a win. That is not the case with us so much is it.

Its a daft thing to ask if I want to go back to being nearly bankrupt. Where did that come from? I am happy that we are financially stable and long should that be the case but IMO AVB is not "magic" and the inability to get another striker in when the vast majority of people, fans and others, were shouting that we needed one, will come back to haunt us.

What I want is a side that plays attractive football, creates opportunities and scores goals. At the moment we are only creating opportunities. I asked the question before, which other PL team relies SO HEAVILY on one player and you didn't respond. Its dangerous and everyone knows it. Yes celebrate the fact that we have Bale but don't rely on it FFS.

So its not AVB's fault we didn't get another striker is it. Know something the rest of us don't eh? I also notice you didn't respond to me saying that bringing on the likes of Carrol and Livermore when we were 2-1 down was a sign of how thin our quality was.
