6' Rossi, who came off the track at over 150 mph, holding his neck. He went on to the grass and could not turn for fear of sliding out - and continued straight ahead until he hit the gravel and then was dumped into it. The leathers did their job.

Rossi slews off the track and is down!!! He seems dazed and confused but okay and gets to his feet... his session is over though and he is nowhere!!!

The big news today is that Michelin have decided not to tender for the job of becoming the sole tyre supplier next season when the new rules come into force. That means everyone will be using Bridgestone.
36' Toseland, who has experience of this circuit having raced here every season in his world championship career, showing what he can do with that bit of knowledge. He is back up a place.
40' A battle going on behind the Aussie, Toseland fourth for a while before being dropped to seventh behind Valentino Rossi - crowned world champion last week - Dani Pedrosa, Alex de Angelis, Andrea Dovizioso, Loris Capirossi and Nicky Hayden.
