Live Commentary

  1. - Aoyama seems to have a bent exhaust pipe, and he can count himself lucky to have a takes his bike home relatively unscathed. The Scot Racing rider now leads the championship, ahead of Bautista!

  2. 0 Hiroshi Aoyama wins the Dutch TT 250cc, cruising through the final lap without further drama! Barbera finishes second, with Simoncelli in third - what a race!

  3. 1 Huge drama! Bautista takes a gamble and gets too close to Aoyama, and the second-placed rider crashes out! Barbera now moves from third to challenge Aoyama, and hopefully his bike is okay!

  4. 2 We are set for a tense finale as Barbera puts considerable space between himself and Simoncelli now in third, but it looks to be a two-bike race out in front.

  5. 3 Aoyama is looking extremely confident in first place, with Bautista close behind but unwilling to make a break just yet. The Scot Racing rider is keeping his composure well at the moment.

  6. 4 Barbera is stalking Bautista after re-passing Simoncelli, who had momentarily regained third, and Bautista is biding his time.

  7. 5 We are into the final five laps of this dramatic race, and Aoyama leads, but with Bautista in very close attendance.

  8. 6 Barbera almost moves into third, as Simoncelli loses yet more ground, while Bautista begins to make a move in second.

  9. 7 Aoyama leads! Astonishing stuff from the Scot Racing team rider, who from an innocuous third place jumps into first, from Bautista and Simoncelli!

  10. 8 Simoncelli capitulates suddenly, dropping down to third with Aoyama staging a dramatic move, and Bautista passing into first place.

  11. 9 Bautista is piling on the pressure in second, and Simoncelli holds him off desperately, but surely not for much longer.

  12. 10 Alex Debon is in sixth still, but Mike Di Meglio is looking pretty solid in fifth. Luthi looks very angry as he acknowledges the fans on his trudge back to the garage.

  13. 11 Karel Abraham is back into 10th after an impressive surge, with Wilairot in ninth, and the Thai is putting huge pressure on Locatelli.

  14. 12 Barbera is looking to repair some of the damage by putting pressure on Aoyama, but it is proving a difficult task.

  15. 13 Simoncelli is feeling the presence of Bautista, who is lurking ominously in second - can he pass the leader?

  16. 14 Bautista re-passes Barbera, and Aoyama follows to push him down to fourth, while Pasini and Luthi curse their luck. Pasini rejoins at the back, but his race is also effectively over.

  17. 15 Mattia Pasini and Thomas Luthi slide into each other, locking up the rear end of their bikes, and are both out of the race!

  18. 16 Aoyama stretches his lead over Di Meglio in fourth, and he is looking very threatening, while Barbera is on a surge.

  19. 17 Abraham drops down to 12th, while Locatelli and Espargaro are battling valiantly for seventh place.

  20. 18 Di Meglio drops off slightly as the front four create a sizeable gap with the field becoming increasingly sparse. Aoyama remains an intriguing prospect in fourth in his Scot Racing team bike.

  21. 19 The leading group of five riders are beginning to separate and fragment slightly, with Debon remaining a good distance behind in sixth.

  22. 20 Locatelli, Wilairot and Abraham are eighth, ninth and tenth respectively, as Simoncelli pulls out in front.

  23. 21 Aoyama is in fifth, and Espargaro is in seventh, as Debon has another aberration, with his bike dancing and he loses more ground.

  24. 22 Simoncelli leads from Bautista, Barbera and Di Meglio, with Debon dropping to sixth.

  25. 23 Bautista looks to react to Debon's pass, while Simoncelli takes the lead over Barbera.

  26. 24 Barbera leads from Espargaro and Debon makes ground with a very brave pass on the opening lap to move into third.

  27. - The warm-up lap is almost completed, and we are about to get underway - how will Barbera react to leading the pack?

  28. - Hector Barbera is on pole position for the second successive race in the Dutch TT 250cc at Assen.
