Folger comes in second, with Gadea in third and Smith completing an impressive performance to come home in fourth.
0/24
SIMON WINS THE FRENCH MOTOGP!!! The Spaniard picks up 25 points to go top of the riders championship.
1/24 Simon has a lead in excess of 30 seconds. He could cruise home, but he's still hammering it.
2/24
Sergio Gadea is past Smith and into third. Two laps to go.
3/24 Smith is 4.8 seconds behind Folger in second. Iannone is fighting for eighth position with Dominique Aegerter.
4/24 Terol is still in the points in 10th, which is quite remarkable when you consider he's crashed TWICE. Simon is looking very comfortable. Smith still in third.
6/24 Simon's lead is 24.6 seconds. He should ease home from here, but he's still lapping very quickly and this track remains dangerous.
7/24
Terol gets himself back up to sixth, BUT HE CRASHES AGAIN!!! He gets back on his bike and will give it another go.
8/24 Smith is in third, being tracked by Sergio Gadea of Spain - who is gaining.
9/24 Iannone has somehow managed to get himself back up to 10th after crashing early on.
10/24
BRADL GOES OFF!!! These conditions really are treacherous. Smith moves up to third.
11/24
DISASTER FOR REDDING!!! He skids off on the wet track and can't get his bike going again. Race over for the British rider. All hopes now lie with Smith.
12/24
Stefan Bradl is also past Smith, who moves down to fourth. Simon's lead is now well over 20 seconds. What a dominant display this is. Redding is up into fifth.
13/24
Jonas Folger is really going at Smith in second. Those two are fighting tooth and nail for the position. FOLGER GETS HIM ON A BEND!!!
14/24 It's Simon from Smith, with Stefan Bradl in third. Meanwhile, Tomoyoshi Koyama joins the casualties with a slide off. He's not happy.
15/24
Cameron Beaubier skids off the Le Mans track and looks to have injured his wrist in the process. The American's race is over.
16/24
Bad news for Danny Webb. The Briton is out of the race and back in the pits.
17/24 Simon is about 18 seconds ahead of Smith in second. The race is his to lose.
18/24
Olive and Marc Marquez come together and BOTH SKID OFF!!! Smith is now up to second, with Redding in fourth. Great news for the GB riders.
19/24
Luca Vitali slides off the track, holding on very well to avoid a nasty injury. Simon is really pulling away. The gap is over 11 seconds between the Italian and the rest of the field.
20/24
Joham Zarco of France is the latest man to skid off and out of the race.
20/24
Simon now leads from Joan Olive of Spain. The gap is over seven seconds. Smith is fourth, with Redding in sixth. Terol is trying to fight back, but he's way down now.
21/24
Simone Corsi flips over his handlebars and takes a nasty crash to exit the race. He's ok, but his race is over. TEROL IS GONE TOO!!! He skids off and tries to re-start, but his chances are over now.
22/24 Nicolas Terol leads by 1.541 from Julian Simon. The pair have broken away from the pack.
23/24
Championship leader Andrea Iannone is OUT OF THE RACE!!! It's not clear how it happened, but he skids onto the gravel and bows out on the first lap.
24/24
We're away and Great Britain's Scott Redding has had an absolute flyer!!! He's in sixth, with Bradley Smith in fifth.
-
The first thing to tell you is that it's WET WET WET. The track looks pretty greasy and we could be in for a thriller.

Dear Carlton Kirby,
You are doing OK as a commentator on motoGP but please could you do some research on the pronunciations of riders names- in particular Jean Olive (surname) and Jorge Lorenzo (firstname).
It's on Eurosport 2 now, lot of good to me i don't have it. BBC 1 for Moto GP so
