Live Commentary

  1. - And that's it! Rossi claims pole, and will be joined on the front of the grid by Pedrosa and Capirossi. Briton Toseland is in eighth. Thanks for joining me.

  2. - All change again, with just two minutes to go. Rossi leads with 1:48.130. Capirossi is next with 1:48.313, and Colin Edwards completes the front line with 1:48.476.

  3. - Casey Stoner blasts into the top three. Meanwhile Edwards comes close to skidding off, but holds on. He can't improve on his second place.

  4. - ROSSI INTO POLE!! 1:48.371 from the Italian. We're set for an exciting last 15 minutes here.

  5. - Pedrosa pushes Toseland off the front row of the grid, with a lap of 1:49.332.

  6. - TOSELAND INTO SECOND!! What a lap from the Briton. 1:49.401!!!

  7. - Home favourite Rossi is up to second, with a lap of 1:49.454

  8. - All change, as American Edwards laps a rapid 1:48.785, to lift himself to the top of the pile. Loris Capirossi is into second.

  9. - The top 11 riders are separated by just a second. Pedrosa is with his team, and serious discussions are being had.

  10. - Rossi goes round in 1:50.190, to slide into second place.

  11. - Rossi has a bizarre helmet on, displaying his face with a garish grin looking forward. Interesting stuff.

  12. - Dani Pedrosa is the early leader, with 1:50.003. Colin Edwards is next best, with Valentino Rossi in third.

  13. - Track temperature is up 10 degrees from this morning, and could get up to 40 degrees by the end of the afternoon.

  14. - Casey Stoner clocks 1:51.564.

  15. - The clock is ticking, the riders have one hour to record their best lap. The sun is shining, and we're looking for times under 1:50 in these conditions. The record is 1:48.169.
