Live Commentary

  1. 0/23 CASEY STONER WINS THE ITALIAN MOTOGP!!! Lorenzo comes in second, with Rossi third and Dovizioso fourth. Capirossi is fifth. Toseland is pipped right at the death by Colin Edwards. Toseland comes in seventh. WHAT A RACE!!! Thanks for joining me.

  2. 1/23 One lap to go!! Stoner leads from Lorenzo, who takes Capirossi - as does Rossi. Rossi is in third.

  3. 3/23 Stoner is 1.448 clear of Capirossi, with Lorenzo third and Rossi fourth.

  4. 4/23 Lorenzo takes Dovizioso to put himself in a podium position. Toseland remains in sixth. Stoner is pulling clear at the front.

  5. 5/23 Five laps to go. Stoner leads from Capirossi, with Dovizioso in third.

  6. 7/23 Stoner returns the favour and takes Capirossi to lead. Rossi is lapping very quickly in fifth.

  7. 8/23 Capirossi gets in behind Stoner AND TAKES HIM TO GO INTO THE LEAD AT HIS HOME GP!!!

  8. 9/23 Toseland is into sixth. It's Rossi up next for the Briton.

  9. 10/23 Stoner takes Dovizioso to go into the lead. Toseland is up to seventh.

  10. 11/23 PEDROSA IS OUT THE RACE!!! He skids off and looks to be nursing his injured hip on the gravel. That was a pretty violent exit.

  11. 12/23 Toseland has the fastest lap of the race and he is really flying.

  12. 13/23 Dovizioso takes Melandri for the lead. Rossi is in third.

  13. 14/23 Alex De Angelis skids off the track and is in trouble. Rossi and Melandri both pit to change tyres - nearly all the riders have done that now.

  14. 14/23 Dovizioso pits to change tyres. Rossi stays up for another lap, only to be taken by MARCO MELANDRI!!!

  15. 16/23 ROSSI LEADS!! He goes past Dovizioso. Meanwhile, several riders have already pitted to change to hard tyres.

  16. 17/23 Rossi up to second! He takes Stoner on a bend and holds it on the home straight.

  17. 18/23 Rossi takes Vermeulen and moves into third. He really is riding like a man on a mission today.

  18. 19/23 Dovizioso takes Stoner and leads the Italian GP. The front four are all pretty tightly packed.

  19. 20/23 Rossi puts in the fastest lap of the race and is beginning to threaten from fourth. Dovizioso is putting Stoner under serious pressure. Lorenzo is fifth by the way.

  20. 21/23 It's Stoner in front, from Vermeulen in second and Dovizioso in third. Rossi is fourth.

  21. 22/23 Stoner comes through to take the lead, driving to the front on a left-hander. James Toseland is up to 10th.

  22. 23/23 THEY'RE AWAY!!! And it's Chris Vermeulen who takes an early lead. The Rain Master is off to a flyer. Andrea Dovizioso is in second.

  23. - We've had some rain in Italy, but the track has been drying out over the last 30 minutes. It's damp, but not wet.

  24. - Jorge Lorenzo starts on pole, with Casey Stoner second on the grid and Loris Capirossi third and that man Valentino Rossi fourth.

What all of you seem unable to see is that over the­ last couple of years Rossi no longer dominates as he­ once did, maybe his time at the top is drawing to a­ close, all champs finally have to go down this road,­ its a shame cos we think he is great and Jorge may well­ be the man to take over, shame because its not just­ Rossi on track thats great its off track too he's a­ great champ. Jorge is a full of himself and Casey is as­ dull as dish water who wants them perpetually at the­ top, not us for sure.

  14. 1st post.BBC suck i got sky just for motorsports. love­ eurosport. even if bradley smith won the season cured­ world hunger, fixed my bike, personally cured the­ credit crunch he still wouldnt make the news cus he is­ a motorcycle racer. this means he is a second class­ sportsman in the world of media.
