Smith walks back to the pits with blood all over his chin, bless him - that incident saw the fairing smash under his helmet, in fact, making it all the more remarkable that he stayed on the bike.
0' In between the podium and the Swiss on the Derbi are Bradl (Aprilia), Marquez (KTM), Cortese (Derbi), Olive (Derbi) and Folger (Aprilia).
0' Webb crosses the line 11th behind countryman Smith, who was passed by Dominique Aegerter for ninth.
0'
IANNONE COMES HOME TO WIN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE 125CC SEASON!! Simon, who started second, also finishes there, while Espargaro also takes a podium spot after starting in eighth.
1' Iannone easing home ahead of the fellow Aprilia of Simon, with Espargaro on the Derbi third.
2'
Smith in ninth with an incredible piece of skill to keep the bike upright!! It snaked around on the exit and his helmet smashed into the fairing, breaking it apart - but he righted it and continued on his way.
3'
AND POLE SITTER IANNONE MOVES THROUGH TO TAKE P1 AS THEY CROSS THE LINE!! Only three laps to go - and he seems to be in prime position for the win!!
4' Simon 1.135 ahead of Espargaro, who is second from Iannone. But the Italian moves past the Spaniard!!
5' Iannone into fourth as Webb drops back another place and is now in fifth with Marquez also just behind him...
6' Aprilia man Smith has the preferable tyres now and is up to 10th behind Sandro Cortese, Jonas Folger and Joan Olive. Iannone roaring through into fifth.
7' Simon comes through against Webb, who doesn't put up much of a fight - no tyre changes, in normal circumstances anyway, in the bikes unlike Formula One.
8' The order changes at the top as the slick boys come through: Simon now second from Espargaro, with Bradl, Marquez and Corsi behind. Webb now only 3.4s clear.
9' Webb's lead cut to eight seconds and he may be reeled in in the next few laps... within the space of a lap it is down to 5.3!!
10'
Simon on Terol's tail, closing all the time... and he surges past him for third!! Good move up the inside.
11' DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Webb has over a nine-second gap on Corsi with Terol and Simon following.
12'
Scott Redding has pulled out of the race and is in the pits - a shame for another promising British rider.
13' Webb, Simon and Espargaro are the fastest men on track. Webb still with plenty of clear air ahead of his rivals.
14' After the problems in qualifying - there was none! - bike fans are positively salivating at the prospect of the three races today. This one has been a cracker so far.
15' His lead is nearly seven seconds. Efren Vazquez and Jasper Iwema, on a Derbi and Honda respectively, were the men who crashed out of the early stages.
16' Webb extends his lead to over five seconds, but is apparently on wets, so he is doing very well as the track dries... there will be riders on slicks who can come through later, so he may need every bit of that advantage.
17'
Webb now 4.48 seconds clear of Corsi, followed by Terol, Gadea, Espergaro, Julian Simon - who dropped back from second at the start - Takaaki Kakagami, Stefan Bradl and Marc Marquez. Iannone 11th ahead of Briton Bradley Smith.
18' Corsi sneaks past Terol, who drops back to third... Webb the fastest man on track at present.
19'
Terol overtaken by Webb!! Danny leads from him, with Simone Corsi also there despite starting in 17th.
20' Webb made up 10 places from 13th on the starting grid. What a start for the Brit. A couple of crashes at the back...
21'
Everyone seems to get away well but Nicolas Terol takes over the lead from Andrea Iannone!! Pol Espargaro is second ahead of Danny Webb, great start for him, ahead of Sergio Gadea and Iannone.
21'

Welcome to LIVE commentary from the 125cc class at the Japanese MotoGP!!
Comment 1 - 2 of 2
bring on the Moto GP !!!
I just hope this race goes the full distance.
I was totally disappointed with the qatar farce, the racing in the 125cc class is how i wish the GP races were, close fighting on every lap and more overtaking, the GP is going fast in the direction of F1 formulation circuits are we going to see more laps and refueling and tyre changes just to show some form of action for the public.
I pray Dorna wake up smell the coffee and stop @#$% footing around,
Soon WSB and BSB will be the premier class.
