Live Commentary

  1. 0 Edwards seals fifth in the Championship, taking fourth ahead of Hayden and Elias

  2. 0 Rossi takes second just ahead, only 0.2s ahead in fact, of team-mate Lorenzo

  3. 0 DANI PEDROSA WINS HIS HOME GRAND PRIX after a sterling weekend

  4. 1 Rossi has pulled away from Lorenzo once again and should fairly comfortably hold on to that second placed finish with just one lap remaining

  5. 3 Lorenzo has cut the deficit between himself and Rossi down to 0.9s with just three laps remaining and has his team-mate and the World Champion firmly in his sights

  6. 6 Spies has cut inside Dovizioso on turn two, held his line into turn three and even started to pull away from him by the time they reach turn four. That means Spies's team-mate for next year, Edwards, goes back into fifth in the Championship

  7. 8 The top six are pretty spread out now with an incredible 18 seconds separating third placed Lorenzo from Edwards back in fourth

  8. 10 With just 10 laps remaining, Dani Pedrosa has extended his lead to 4.1 seconds. It really is his race to lose now

  9. 12' Spies is getting faster and faster and has put Kallio in between himself and Toseland moving up into ninth on his debut in MotoGP

  10. 14 And Divizioso has now snuck through into seventh, taking an inside line around a left-hander to get past Randy De Puniet. That means Dovizioso will take fifth in the world championship as it stands

  11. 17 Edwards has managed to pass Elias to move up into fourth with Hayden also sneaking past. Divizioso needs to move up into seventh to secure fifth place over all in the championship if Edwards stays where he is

  12. 20 Pedrosa has further extended his lead to 2.3 seconds over Rossi, who is another 1.2 seconds ahead of Lorenzo

  13. 22 Ducati have now got Stoner's bike back to the paddock and the early indications are that the reason behind the Australian's crash was cold tyres

  14. 23 Spies and Toseland are locked in a battle further back in the field with the MotoGP new-comer just leading the man he is replacing in 12th

  15. 24 Pedrosa is fairly comfortably maintaining his two second lead over the rest of the pack with Rossi and Lorenzo in second and third now opening up a four second gap of their own over the rest

  16. 27 Pedrosa has a two second lead over the rest of the pack though as Lorenzo does very well to stay on his bike despite clipping the curb. All of which gives Rossi time to move through into second

  17. 27 Lorenzo and Rossi, in that order, have made short work of passing Elias swamping the Honda to move up into second and third

  18. 29 Pedrosa leads from Elias after the first lap is completed with wildcard Ben Spies by the way sitting in 10th, having started from ninth on the grid,

  19. 30 Ok and they are off - minus Stoner - with Pedrosa taking the lead into the first turn

  20. 12:59 Unbelievably Stoner has had a problem in the warm-up lap and will not be starting the race. He went wide into turn one to let other riders go past (nothing unusual there, he usually does that) but he then ended up with the bike on it's side in the gravel

  21. 12:57 So the race should be getting underway in just a few minutes with Casey Stoner on pole, ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo

  22. - Welcome to live text commentary of the Moto GP from Valencia. Casey Stoner is on pole.

  1. Im so dissapointed in Moto GP nowadays. Its become the formula 1 of two wheels, watching gaps rise and fall between strung out riders with any decent battles going on from 5th place down. Brilliant showing from Spies and i bet Toseland was extremely pi**ed off. Sorry JT but you have not fulfilled the position in your team well at all, and i dare say you will not be missed by colin. As an englishman i should be supportive but i havent seen you do anything worth shouting about. I hope you do well in WSB and i look forward to watching you in 2010.
