It has been suggested Milan are contemplating dispensing with Allegri after the 1-0 derby defeat to Inter Milan on Sunday.
Milan apparently have contingency plans in place with assistant boss Mauro Tassotti tipped to take on the role of a caretaker coach until the end of the season.
Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola and Zenit St Petersburg manager Luciano Spalletti have been touted as possible options to take over from next season.
Guardiola would be an unlikely appointment unless Milan are willing to furnish Guardiola with something in the region of 80 million euros to spend on new players.
