    American Football - Steelers set to release Harrison

    The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the verge of releasing linebacker James Harrison after the two sides have been unable to come an agreement on a pay cut.

    According to the USA Today report, the two sides spoke on Friday, but have made no progress in getting Harrison to agree to any reduction in the $6.57 million base salary he's owed next season.

    The Baltimore Ravens terminated the contract of vested veteran guard Bobbie Williams. But the Baltimore Sun reported the Ravens are expected to make a significant offer to linebacker Dannell Ellerbe before Tuesday's deadline.

    The Jacksonville Jaguars released veteran safety Dawan Landry and cornerback Aaron Ross. Waiving Landry allows the Jaguars to free up $1.45 million in cap space for 2013.

    Safety Adrian Wilson was released by the Arizona Cardinals after 12 seasons. Wilson, 33, became a five-time Pro Bowler in Arizona as a hybrid linebacker-safety.

    The San Diego Chargers released safety Atari Bigby after one year with the team. Bigby's lone season was cut short after 11 games when he sustained a groin injury and was placed on injured reserve.

    The Carolina Panthers parted with cornerback Chris Gamble, who was released after nine seasons.

    The New York Jets want wide receiver Santonio Holmes to agree to a reduction in his base salary for next season as they continue to negotiation a deal, ESPNNewYork.com reported.

    The Jets are asked Holmes to reduce his $11 million base salary to help the team's salary cap situation, according to the report.

    Quarterback Matt Moore opted to re-sign with the Miami Dolphins rather than test the free-agent market. Moore signed a two-year contract, reported by NFL.com to be worth $8 million, The team also confirmed the re-signing of wide receiver Brian Hartline. He is reported to have received a five-year, $31 million deal.

    The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed long-snapper Clark Harris and punter Kevin Huber before their contracts expired.
