The New England Patriots do not plan to release cornerback Alfonzo Dennard despite his recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, the Boston Globe reported.
Dennard was previously sentenced to 30 days in jail for assaulting a police officer before he was drafted in 2012.
Dennard has a hearing scheduled for July 31, and that may influence to Patriots' moves regarding Dennard as well as actions the NFL might take against him.
Also, the Patriots waived wide receiver Donald Jones. He had signed a three-year contract in March, but none of the money was guaranteed, according to NFL.com.
Free agent wide receiver Bert Reed has been suspended the first four games of this season, according to the Baltimore Sun.
It is not clear why he was suspended.
Reed, 25, was most recently with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was with their practice squad toward the end of the season. He was then put the roster in January but the team cut him on April 30.

He could have become a free agent in March if he had not signed an extension.
The Packers have also announced the release of wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield.
The Cleveland Browns have signed third-round draft pick Leon McFadden to a four-year contract.
Financial terms were not released on the deal, which was announced on rookie reporting day Friday.
McFadden, a defensive back, is trying to become the starting cornerback opposite Joe Haden.
