The Kentucky Derby winner was pulled out of the Dubai meeting last week, having been well fancied by bookmakers, and is expected to be sidelined for three months.

The injury in question is a stress fracture of the pelvis, which according to his trainer Graham Motion, is unrelated to the injury that kept him out for eight months following last year’s Belmont Stakes.

"He does not have a fracture per se,” said Motion. “It's the beginnings of a fracture. It's not an injury that can be discovered by a simple x-ray. Fortunately we got him in for the bone scan and it’s great we were able to catch this thing before it became more significant.”
