Michael Ball has had his contract at Leicester cancelled by mutual consent.
Ball joined the Foxes on a one-year deal last season following a successful trial after a spell out of the game because of injury.
However, the former Everton, Rangers, Manchester City and PSV Eindhoven full-back failed to make an impression at the npower Championship club.
He featured three times under former manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and has fallen further down the pecking order under current boss Nigel Pearson.
Ball, 32, made his last appearance in a Carling Cup tie at Cardiff in September.
