The M-Sport Ford Fiesta RRC driver build a 12.7 second lead over Jan Kopecky in the Skoda Fabia Super 2000, with Kopecky winning the second stage in between Basso's wins on the first and third stages.
Andreucci Paolo in the Peugeot 207 S2000 sits third, 14.2 seconds off the lead and 0.2 seconds ahead of fourth-placed Juho Hanninen.
The fourth stage of the race is a night stage that begins at 9pm on Friday night.
