The move comes following the departure from the team of Peter Hickman, who was axed for appearing for World Superbike team FIXI Crescent Suzuki at Donington Park between BSB events.
Several names had been linked with the vacant seat, including Australian Mark Aitchison, who left his WSBK ride with Grillini earlier this week, but Bathams boss Nick Morgan has opted to bide his time before hiring a replacement.
"We're only running Michael in Superbikes this weekend because we don't want to rush the decision on who takes the ride," he said.
Rutter, currently in 13th on the championship ladder, heads to the track in Norfolk full of confidence after a useful North West 200 outing.
“Snetterton comes right in the middle of a hectic few weeks for me," he said. "After a fantastic time at the North West 200 last weekend, we were able to gain some useful information about the Bathams Kawasaki Superbike which we hope we can use here.
“I'll have no rest after Sunday's races as I'll be heading off to the Isle of Man TT - as practice begins on Monday.
"Despite competing in the road races, BSB is so important to me and I'm hoping I'll be able to transfer the success of the North West to the fast Snetterton circuit.”
