Despite picking up three penalties, Neuner showed the greater strength in the final kilometre to power past Norway’s Tora Berger, who picked up two penalties, and a tiring Andrea Henkel, who had led most of the way with a solitary penalty but couldn’t hold on.
And with 28,000 German fans in attendance, Neuner was delighted to make it back-to-back victories after another victory 24 hours earlier.
She said: “It was a great race and a lot of fun here since it is my last time here. I am in very good shape and I had very good skis, so I am very happy with my race.”
“The penalties did not faze me I was always close to the lead and felt all day like I had enough power to handle Tora and Andrea. I was very relaxed all day.”
