Third was Russia’s Evgeny Ustyugov while Norway’s Emil Hegle Svendsen missed out on the chance to press his claim for the overall title as he could only manage sixth.
Defending champion and currently top ranked Tarjei Boe was absent from the men’s sprint but remains top of the overall pile on 308 points while Martin Fourcade stays second despite also failing to make the start-line in Germany.
