UEFA’s Spanish site conducted a survey among its editors, who decided that Bielsa should get the nod ahead of Jose Mourinho for taking Athletic Bilbao to two cup finals with an entirely Basque squad.
There is just one Athletic player in the first XI though, with attacking midfielder Oscar de Marcos sneaking in ahead of Xavi and Andres Iniesta, who had inconsistent campaigns by their high standards.
Valencia’s Jordi Alba was named as one of three defenders, while Santi Cazorla of Malaga also gets the nod after helping his side into the Champions League qualifiers.
And Atletico Madrid hit-man Radamel Falcao is rewarded for his goal-scoring exploits both in La Liga and the Europa League, taking his place in a front three boasting Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who scored 46 and 50 Liga goals respectively.
UEFA also saw fit to give special mention to Mourinho for leading Real to the Liga title with 100 points, with Madrid trio Karim Benzema, Gonzalo Higuain and Marcelo also praised for the seasons.
