The bout, which Brook earned by defeating Hector Saldivia in a final eliminator on October 20 in his home town of Sheffield, was initially pencilled in for January 19th.
But after suffering a minor ankle injury during early training for the title fight, Brook’s representatives requested and were subsequently granted a change of date to give him adequate time to return to 100%.
Brook, undefeated in 29 bouts with 19 knockouts to his name, confirmed the new official date via his Twitter account, saying: “Feb 23 I’m gonna show the world just how Special I am. I’m gonna bring this World title home for Britain.”
Alexander is 24-1 with 13 wins coming inside the set distance, and will be making his first defence after winning the belt from Randall Bailey in New York the same night as Brook’s third-round stoppage of Argentina’s Saldivia.
