English super-middleweight DeGale was set to fight the Colombian at the Glow venue in Kent, but without a clear reason being stated, his promoters have announced the fight and undercard will be delayed.
The official statement read: “Hennessy Sports would like to apologise to everyone that this unfortunate and unavoidable situation has affected.
"Hennessy Sports and James DeGale will be issuing a statement in the coming days regarding the rescheduled date and the situation regarding tickets for this exciting encounter."
Whatever the problem was, it did not appear to pertain to the WBC Silver champion DeGale, who tweeted: "Gutted! Just been told my fight on the 23 March has been postponed! New date to be confirmed!"
Brand himself was a late stand-in opponent for ‘Chunky’, after Argentina’s Pablo Farias withdrew.
