But she insists the rising standard of competition at the annual multi-sport event can only be a good thing as they prepare for a podium finish at this summer’s Paralympics.
A year ago Britain caused a shock, defeating Germany, who were then crowned European champions in September while Hamer and co took bronze.
They will be joined in Manchester by reigning Paralympic champions and world title-holders USA as well as bronze medallists from Beijing 2008, Australia.
But, despite a formidable-looking World Cup field, Hamer insists she cannot wait to test herself against the globe’s finest teams.
The 21-year-old said: “It will be tough because we are going to be up against some very strong teams.
“The USA are probably the best team in the world and the Australians and Germany are very good as well.
“But it shows how much we have improved that these teams want to come over here and play against us. It’s really positive for us to be playing the top teams around.
“It’s great preparation for the Paralympics and will be a huge challenge. It’s really important for us to have a successful tournament ahead of London.”
Hamer was part of the British team that finished second at the inaugural Tri-Nations Cup in Sheffield against Germany and France over Easter.
However, while Hamer has a home Paralympics at the forefront of her mind, she has a more immediate focus with university exams for her foundations degree at Loughborough.
She added: “I’m getting used to juggling studying and playing so it’s not a massive deal. But with exams on at the moment I have to make sure I fit everything in.
“You end up missing out on a few things but it’s worth it in the end. This season the training has been really good, we’ve split the squad into two teams who have been playing in the men’s league.
“I’ve been with the team from the north and there is always quite a lot of rivalry when we meet up but it’s good-natured. It’s been a real boost for the squad ahead of London.”
