Jason Shackell believes a play-off place is a reasonable target for Burnley this season.
The Clarets enjoyed an excellent start to their npower Championship campaign on Saturday, overcoming Bolton and former boss Owen Coyle 2-0.
Turf Moor skipper Shackell made his league debut against the Trotters and, although the summer signing from Derby feels last season's relegated Barclays Premier League clubs will provide the benchmark, he sees no reason why a combination of youthful exuberance and self-belief cannot see Burnley prosper.
"You look at the teams that have come down, huge clubs with very good players, and the teams that have come up, again, are big clubs," he said.
"I'm sure they're going to be nice and strong, they've all added to their squads.
"It's going to be a tough league this year but we've got to stay positive and confident within ourselves.
"Realistically I think the play-offs is not out of the question. If we hit a good run there's no reason why we can't be there or thereabouts."
