Leeds' teenage goalkeeper Alex Cairns has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
The 19-year-old, who signed his first professional contract last summer, is ready to go out on loan to boost his first-team chances at Elland Road.
Cairns told the club's official website: "It was an easy decision as soon as it was put to me. It's a great club to be at and working with Lonners [Andy Lonergan] and Maik [Taylor] and learning everything from them is fantastic."
He added: "It might be that I go and gain experience at another club and come back here and stake my claim to be in the first team.
"You have to bide your time more as a goalkeeper and build your experience up before you get thrown in there."
Cairns' only first-team appearance was as a second-half substitute in the 5-0 home defeat to Blackpool in November.
