    Carter hopeful over Brighton deal

Brighton trialist Darren Carter is hoping he has done enough to secure a contract at the Amex Stadium.

The former Birmingham and Preston midfielder, currently a free agent, has been training with the Seagulls for the last 10 days and scored on his debut for the reserves against Bournemouth on Tuesday.

"I'm very confident. I wouldn't be down here, wasting my time or the gaffer's time, if I didn't feel I could make a big contribution," he told the Argus.

"I've always been an ambitious person anyway and I've still got a lot of things I want to achieve in my career.

"All I need is an opportunity, that is all I am looking for.

"I have been working my socks off where ever I have been, especially this year, to just get an opportunity to prove to people I've got it at this level and higher."
