Nottingham Forest skipper Luke Chambers believes only an injection of cash from the club's new owners is likely to prevent a mass exodus of players.
Chambers himself admitted he does not know where his future lies with his contract set to expire in the next couple of weeks.
The 26-year-old has not ruled out another season at the City Ground - but insisted he does not want another year fighting relegation.
"It would influence the players, of course it would. I do not want to be playing down at the bottom of the division," he told the Nottingham Post.
"I am at the age where I want to be playing at the highest level I can. I have been here for more than five years and it has been a positive experience.
"I am not going to put a lot of thought into football for the next two weeks, I am going to have a break.
"But, at the moment, if you ask me where I will be next season, I can't honestly answer that question."
