Cardiff dropped points for only the second time in eight Championship games as managerless Huddersfield battled for a deserved and hard-fought point in a goalless draw at the John Smith's Stadium.
Huddersfield, for whom joint caretaker managers Mark Lillis and Steve Eyre were taking charge of their fourth game following the sacking of Simon Grayson, were in no mood to be rolled over by Cardiff. They were worthy of their point despite riding their luck when Cardiff defender Matthew Connolly hit the post in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
Grant McCann's late strike halted Leicester's winning streak as the automatic promotion chasers were beaten 2-1 by bottom-of-the-table Peterborough at London Road. Leicester, who remain in second place for now ahead of Hull's evening kick-off at Brighton, looked like making it six straight victories when Ben Marshall put them in front at the start of the second half. But Peterborough, unbeaten in their last five home league matches after this result, hit back through Davide Petrucci's superb strike before McCann completed the turnaround two minutes from time.
Jason Scotland scored a late winner as Middlesbrough's dismal start to 2013 continued with a 3-2 home defeat to Barnsley in the Championship. A topsy-turvy encounter saw the away side take an early lead through Jim O'Brien, before Boro responded in the second half through Mustapha Carayol and Curtis Main. Barnsley were not to be denied, however, and Scott Golbourne equalised before Scotland sealed the points with his third goal in as many games.
Craig Davies and David Ngog came off the bench to turn a Lancashire derby on its head and hand Bolton three much-needed points in a 2-1 success against Burnley. Following a goalless first-half of few chances, Burnley looked set to claim local bragging rights from the second time this season following David Edgar's close-range finish in the 55th minute. It prompted Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman to introduce strike pairing Davies and Ngog, initially to howls of derision from the Reebok Stadium faithful who were unhappy to see Marvin Sordell and lively winger Steve De Ridder withdrawn. But the switch proved to be inspired as Davies headed his first goal since joining from Barnsley last month before Ngog sealed the Trotters' maiden league triumph of 2013 nine minutes from time.
Leroy Lita continued to prove his worth to Sheffield Wednesday by helping them fight back from two goals down to earn a point in a 2-2 draw against Derby at Hillsborough. Lita, on loan from Swansea, kick-started the Owls' revival by tapping in from close range to take his tally to three in three following his move from south Wales after Derby had surged into a 2-0 lead. The Rams opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Jeff Hendrick finished a nice passing move by firing low past Chris Kirkland and Jamie Ward doubled the lead from the spot following Miguel Llera's foul soon after the restart. But after Lita's lifeline, Llera atoned for his misdemeanour by heading Wednesday level from good work by Michail Antonio in the 56th minute.
On-loan striker Nathan Delfouneso came off the bench to fire managerless Blackpool to a first home victory since mid-December with a stoppage-time winner in a 2-1 success against Millwall. The Seasiders had to come from behind as the visitors claimed the lead in the first period through a fortuitous strike from James Henry which went straight in from a corner. The hosts had not looked like threatening too much before Tom Ince, fresh off his brace for the England Under-21s in midweek, slammed home his fourth goal in his past three Championship games. And Delfouneso got in behind the Lions defence in the dying moments to claim all three points for Blackpool and their caretaker boss Steve Thompson.
Sean O'Driscoll showed his former employers Nottingham Forest exactly what they were missing as his Bristol City side recorded a priceless 2-0 victory at Ashton Gate. Steven Davies opened the scoring five minutes after the break before long-serving midfielder Marvin Elliott nodded home the second 12 minutes later to secure City's third successive home win.
Danny Batth picked the perfect moment to score his first league goal for Wolves as his injury-time header snatched a 2-2 draw against Leeds and prevented the club from falling into the relegation zone in the Championship. Leeds fell behind in the 53rd minute when skipper Lee Peltier put the ball into his own net. Luke Varney levelled with a well-taken effort for his first league goal of the season in the 64th minute. Leeds looked to have got the winner 12 minutes from time, Ross McCormack slotting home from the spot after Bakary Sako hauled down Sam Byram. But it was not to be as both sides were forced to settle for a draw from an entertaining encounter.
Blackburn made it three wins on the spin as a messy own goal from Ipswich goalkeeper Stephen Henderson decided a scrappy encounter 1-0.
Wade Elliott struck a stoppage-time equaliser for Birmingham as Charlton's jitters struck again in a 1-1 draw. Yann Kermorgant put them ahead with two minutes left.
