Paul Coutts believes Derby's style of football will see him excel at Pride Park.
Coutts last week signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the Rams, joining Nigel Clough's side from Preston for an undisclosed fee.
"Once I heard Derby were interested, I was delighted," the 23-year-old midfielder told the club's official website.
"When I met the gaffer we talked about how he wants to play the game and his philosophies about the game and they totally matched mine, which made the decision an easy one for me.
"The style of football he wants to play suits me and my game, so I hope I can excel.
"As soon as we had a chat, I knew Derby was the club for me and I'm absolutely delighted to be here.
"The gaffer showed me around the fantastic facilities. I've played at Pride Park Stadium a few times in the past and it's a great ground.
"I also know the club has fantastic support, which is great for any player."
