    Cricket - Brisbane end Muralitharan's Big Bash dream to reach final

    Brisbane Heat sealed their place in the final of the Big Bash League with a 15-run victory over Muttiah Muralitharan's Melbourne Renegades in Melbourne.

    The Heat batted first at the Docklands Stadium and posted a total of 183 for three from their 20 overs, with opener Luke Pomersbach smashing 112 off just 70 balls in a breathtaking innings.

    Muralitharan could only muster one wicket, and the target was too tough for Aaron Finch’s men as the Renegades ended on 168 for nine, with number four Ben Rohrer topscoring with 42 off 22 balls.

    Brisbane, captained by wicketkeeper Chris Hartley, will take on the winner of the second semi-final between the Perth Scorchers and Shane Warne’s Melbourne Stars in the showpiece final on January 19.
