Brown was a member of the Bears team under Bob Woolmer which won the 1994 title and then again the following year when Phil Neale was in charge. Brown has succeeded Ashley Giles - who left to coach England's limited-overs sides - at the helm and is also aiming for back-to-back titles ahead of the season curtain-raiser with the MCC in Abu Dhabi starting on Sunday.

Brown said: "It is really important we go out there to win the championship again."

He added: "In 1994-1995 we changed from Bob Woolmer to Phil Neale as coach and won back-to-back championships. It can be done with the right structure and vision in place.

"The squad has enjoyed good preparation both at home this winter and latterly during our pre-season camp in Barbados,

"MCC has selected a strong squad, so the match will be great preparation ahead of our championship programme."
