Equestrian - Nations Cup arrives in the Florida sun

After a stopover in the United Arab Emirates last week, the Furusiyya Nations Cup arrives in Wellington, Florida this weekend.

Germany are set to defend their title with heavyweights Janne Friedrike Meyer and Daniel Deusser while Ireland will be able to count on London Olympic bronze medallist Cian O'Connor.

Representatives of Colombia, as well as Mexico, have been invited as neighbours and while podium spots will be a challenge for the former, the latter are likely to be in the mix.

The Americans will be the favorites for glory though with a team worthy of the world championships boasting the likes of Reed Kessler, Beezie Madden, Laura Kraut and Kent Farrington.

Canada's Eric Lamaze, Olympic champion in 2008, will return to competition in Wellington after curtailing his sabbatical from the saddle.

His student Tiffany Foster, who he backed at the 2012 Olympics after her horse was detected with hypersensitivity resulting in disqualification and a ban from the Canadian federation, will also compete.
