Essex wrapped up a comfortable seven-wicket victory over promotion-chasing Kent in their LV= County Championship Division Two clash at Canterbury.
The hosts, who started the day nine for three, collapsed to 101 all out with Maurice Chambers' four for 31 leading the Essex charge.
Graham Napier and Harbhajan Singh took three wickets apiece and the visitors needed just 54 to wrap up their second win of the campaign.
The visitors lost Jaik Mickelburgh (one) and Tom Westley (14) early on, with Azhar Mahmood claiming both wickets and although Owais Shah (13) also departed, Mark Pettini and Ryan ten Doeschate saw their side home.
Stephen Peters struck a century for the second game running as Northamptonshire's batsmen dominated the first day of their LV= County Championship Division Two match against Leicestershire at Wantage Road.
Peters, who hit a ton against Yorkshire last week, produced an excellent knock of 137 not out off 261 balls as Northants closed on 300 for five with Ireland wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien making 70 off 117 deliveries.
