Langmead scored from close range in stoppage time to cancel out Ryan Jarvis' 62nd-minute opener.
Bothroyd, though, wanted more.
He said: "Torquay's goal led a charmed life at times.
"I thought our set players really caused problems for them and I thought our two front players - Clive Platt and Adebayo Akinfenwa - were a real handful for them all match and at the back we looked solid.
"Clarke (Carlisle) and Kelvin were superb.
"They (Torquay) scored the goal and they are a good side, especially at home, and you know they are going to give you problems, and they did.
"We are growing as a team, and that's part of it. You have got to withstand a barrage - and we did.
"But I thought we deserved at least a point, if not more.
"I think Torquay are a good side, and I was chatting with Martin (Ling) before the game and we were saying we've both had injury problems and I guess we are where we are in the table for a reason."
