The midfielder could be forgiven for constantly feeling like the new kid at school after making his third move in six months when he joined Crystal Palace on loan last week.
Butterfield had previously been on loan with Bolton - against whom he made his Eagles debut on Saturday in a goalless draw - after joining Norwich from Barnsley last summer.
"I was quite happy with my debut but I feel I have lots more to give," he said.
"That was my third debut in a year, I've had to move around a lot to get some game time.
"It's always difficult, I'd only been here for two days so it's a new set of lads again. But I really enjoyed the game and thought I did okay.
"I feel good fitness wise, it's just a case of getting a settled position in a team and then I will show what I'm all about. I'll keep getting better the more I play."
