The Baggies climbed to third place in the Barclays Premier League before a run of one point from the last four games that has seen them drop to seventh position.
Ahead of the home clash with Norwich, head coach Clarke is still happy with the overall picture.
But he knows the importance of West Brom building on their solid foundations.
He said: "We're a long way into the season now, approaching halfway, and we're still in a really good place.
"If you'd said we'd be sitting on 27 points the Saturday before Christmas, I think a lot of people would have accepted that.
"We have to make sure that we don't become complacent because we have a good number of points.
"We have to push the squad and the team and push ourselves forward into an even better position."
