The north-east club are still nine points adrift of the play-off places but their first victory in three games gave their travelling supporters plenty to smile about.
"It's a great win for us, I'm really proud of the players for that performance," praised Cooper.
"We were solid all afternoon and I thought we dominated the second half.
"We knew it was going to be a tough ask for us because Dagenham have been playing well and have been having a good season.
"But I thought we created some good chances and were unlucky not to have scored in the first half.
"We kept going, though, and then Luke's scored a good goal, which has given us that platform to get the win.
"And it was nice Andy scored at the end to make sure of the points because at 1-0 up the game's not put to bed.
"It's a good win for us, but hopefully we can build on this now and go on a decent run."
