The Wales international has been out for a month with a hamstring problem and will not feature at leaders Cardiff on Tuesday night.
But first-team coach Charlie Oatway is confident Crofts is close to making a welcome return to action.
He said: "Crofty has a tender spot in his hamstring and he's had an injection so we are hoping that will calm it down and then the plan is that he'll be back training within a few days.
"He could be ready for the next home game and then he's back involved with the players again.
"He's had a bit of a frustrating season but we have to make sure that he doesn't get into a downward spiral mentally. Crofty has a strong mind so I'm sure he'll get himself fit again and then kick on."
