The 37-year-old, back for a second spell with the Grecians, has been nominated alongside Port Vale striker Tom Pope and Bradford captain Gary Jones.
The former Reading striker has struck 20 goals this season for Paul Tisdale's promotion-hopefuls to leave him second in the goalscoring charts.
The winner of the League Two player of the year award will be announced along with 16 others at the Football League Awards gala ceremony at The Brewery, London on Sunday March 24.
