Hill has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks and has called on the club to buck the trend of being quick to sack their managers, but the weekend derby defeat to fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday meant his side have now gone 11 league games without a win and saw them slip into the bottom three.
"Christmas is a time for everyone. The kids here need support and the parents also need supporting," Hill told the club's official website.
"Your health is your wealth and I think it's important to support the local community and hospital, especially at this time.
"It also helps bring a bit of perspective and reality away from football and to see what other people have to go through.
"We've all got families and children and the kids are our future and need our protection."
