"I think they have got a really good squad and we just had to compete with them because we know we are going to get better.
"When you bring half your team in a couple of weeks before the season starts then it's quite difficult to do all the things you want to do with them and it's been like that for us and two of the players who played only arrived on Thursday. It's been a stop-start pre-season really.
"We were a little unfortunate to go behind to a goal from a deflection, but we showed some courage to go forward and we take a point.
"It was so important not to lose. It looked as though we were going to lose 1-0, but we didn't and that was so important.
"We didn't know what to do when we went a goal behind with only a couple of minutes left so we just threw Niall (Thompson) on and told him to get forward and get the ball into the box.
"Niall did that and Downesy does what he does so well and puts his head to it and gets a great goal."
