Liam Craig grabbed the only goal of the game as Saints clinched a 1-0 win over the Clydesdale Bank Premier League's bottom side on Wednesday.
Lomas admitted the Tayside derby was far from a classic but declared himself satisfied after the Perth club moved into the top half of the table ahead of the winter break.
He said: "I'm delighted. Our main objective was to get the three points going into the break and we've got them.
"We've got to take the positives. It was another clean sheet and we're back into the top six.
"I now have a chance to refresh the boys and come back ready for a very tough away game at Motherwell.
"We have probably played better and lost games. So to play not so good and to get a win, you've got to take it when you can.
"It wasn't a classic by any stretch of the imagination but we will take it."
