The two sides meet at Hillsborough level on points and both in the npower Championship relegation zone after defeats last weekend and Pearson believes City have what it takes to beat Dave Jones' men.
"We know we can go there and win," Pearson said. "We got a good result up at Middlesbrough and a good performance at Brighton a few weeks ago, albeit the result didn't come with it but for large parts of that game we played well.
"Obviously Sheffield Wednesday will be a difficult game, it won't be pretty and it will be a fight and a battle and it will be a case of who wants it more on the day."
At 30-years-old, Pearson - who has played for the likes of Celtic and Derby - was the oldest player to feature in City's 4-1 defeat by Wolves but he says it is not just the experienced pros who need to show the way.
"We have got a wealth of experienced players but the nucleus of the squad is pretty young and pretty inexperienced," he said.
"But there is some experience in there and it is up to us all to stick together. Everyone needs to lead by example and do their job properly to the best of their abilities."
