Football - Pearson plays down Wood talk

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson played down speculation he was on the verge of signing sought-after striker Chris Wood after watching his side draw at Hull 0-0 - their third successive match without scoring.

The Foxes ended a run of back-to-back defeats with a battling point at second-placed Hull, but their recent lack of strike power was again underlined in a goalless draw.

It was only Hull's own profligacy that allowed Leicester off the hook - Jay Simpson and Abdoulaye Faye were the chief culprits - to intensify talk that Wood could soon be on his way to the King Power Stadium.

The New Zealand striker has been prolific on loan at Millwall this season, and though Pearson admits he is ready to do business, he would not confirm if Wood is a target.

He said: "As always I don't join in with the speculation until any business is done. If the right players are available and we can do it then yes (we will do business). I'm not going to bring players in for the sake of it. If the right players are available and we can do the deals then maybe we'll do them."
