A brace from Charlie MacDonald and a goal from Kevin Lisbie were enough to see off the promotion hopefuls, who replied through Brett Pitman.
"The most important thing was that we had a real focus in our performance from the first minute until the last," said Slade.
"It was a really good performance, not only were we good between the two boxes but I also thought we were good in the box against what was a very good side.
"They never stopped coming at us, they kept trying to create chances and cause us problems but I thought that we dealt with them very well."
Slade also praised his side's work-rate, adding: "It was massive.
"Bournemouth are a team who like to play with a tempo and we matched that and some of our pockets of football, particularly in the first half, were really pleasing.
"In the second half, they kept a high line and we adapted to that really well which was pleasing and that got us a goal.
"I'm really pleased for our goalscorers and for Lis to get a goal on his return from injury was fairytale stuff really.
"Overall, I'm really pleased with the whole group. We are enjoying our football again, we've taken four points out of six from two very talented sides."
